NostalgiaVX Shaders are an even more advanced version of the original Nostalgia Shader. The VX version includes more realistic lighting and shading features, which come at the cost of performance. This is why we recommend you test

Path tracing

Similar to what KappaPT Shaders are to Kappa Shaders, Nostalgia VX 1.21 is the path-traced version of the much older Nostalgia shaders. These shaders focus on staying true to Minecraft’s original intended look and feel. It improves, but also retains most of the vanilla Minecraft features, such as square 3D clouds and a square sun.

The VX version does, however, add another layer of realism to Minecraft. It changes the way reflections and light rays are calculated, which is done using a shading technique called path tracing. With path traced shaders, light rays will bounce off of object in the world more realistically. What is unique about path traced shaderpacks is that they can rather accurately calculate which areas of the world should be illuminated by indirect lighting.

Stay true

As expected, the addition of ray tracing does not mean you will be looking at a totally different shaderpack. The path-traced version will look almost identical to its non path-traced counterpart.

It maintains the square clouds from the original shaderpack, and will give off the same overall vibe as the original shader, too. In general, NostalgiaVX shaders are simply an upgrade to those already convinced by the looks of the non VX shaders. Do keep in mind that with greater visual quality comes greater performance impact!
